During the day,
Modeste Minet is just another schoolboy of the town of Raminagroville. At night, however, he turns into Supermatou [Supertomcat], also known to the locals as the Boxing-Goose! With him is his dog Robert, a canine know-all. Supermatou and Robert fly over the streets of Raminagroville, dealing with crooks and mad scientists and inventors. A recurring enemy is Agagax, a six-month old mad scientist, who can turn his pram into a flying machine and uses his feeding bottles as test tubes in his experiments. To defeat the tiny terror, Supermatou often has to call on the help of the elderly and amiable Professor Chanteclair.

The Author
Jean-Claude Poirier (1944-80) began his career in comics by illustrating the advenrures of real-life clown Achille Zavatta in "Bibi Fricotin" Magazine in the 1960s. In 1965, he created the character of Maximax for the magazine "Paul & Mic", and "Cactus Papa" (written by Jacques Lob) for "Record". Poirier joined the editorial team of "Vaillant" (later renamed "Pif") in 1970. There, he created Horace, the comical adventures of a western horse, and Supermatou. In 1978, Poirier created Charlotte Poireau for "Tintin" magazine. Poirier died in 1980.
